I’m sorry about this post, everyone. There were no entries sent in this week to share, and I’ve suffered a back injury that prohibits me from sitting in my comfy office chair for more than a few minutes. Still, I wanted to do what I can while I can because that’s all we can ever really strive to do to help each other. There was some heartbreak and some encouragement this week—setbacks and victories. In my continuing search for Non-Raiderfan John, I met a few really interesting people. Nearly-blind David is convinced he keeps seeing the same woman in his daily travels despite her insisting she doesn’t work at the other places he’s seen her. Heartbreak Ronnie is thinking about what his life might look like if he accepted an avenue out of the tunnel, but without his wife, he’s not sure it really matters. Camille absolutely will not go into a shelter—she’d rather stay on the streets because those shelters can be dangerous. Rojelio is earning some money, finally catching a break to get his foot in the door on a remodeling job because some schmuck hurt his back and needs help doing just about anything. |

I talked to a leg earlier in the week (pictured). Not a great conversationalist, this leg. Eventually, there was a hand (not pictured) to which I gave a business card. The three of us agreed, this is no way to live. Okay, the back is killing me. It’s time to assume a prone position for a while. Again, I apologize for the lame update. What really sucks is that this injury was exacerbated when I was unloading a trailer-full of stuff for a lovely non-profit benefiting victims of domestic violence. It’s called Old Things New in Benson, AZ. Check it out when you get a chance. They’re on Facebook. |
